Join us for the very first Botanical Sketchbook Club as we begin a year-long journey celebrating flowers, watercolour and the changing seasons.

Our first botanical study will focus on a beautiful dahlia, one of the highlights of the late summer garden. During this relaxed three-hour workshop, we'll take our time observing the flower, building gentle layers of watercolour and creating a detailed botanical painting together.

Unlike our weekly Creative Core classes, these monthly workshops are designed to be slower and more in-depth, giving us the time to explore the subject, develop our painting and enjoy the process without feeling rushed.

Each month you'll receive a beautifully printed botanical workbook to take home, including:

Step-by-step photographs showing exactly how to paint the month's flower.

A full-size tracing sheet.

Reference photographs.

A photograph of the finished painting.

Colour swatches showing the palette used.

Botanical notes about the flower, including how it grows, the conditions it enjoys and interesting facts.

Each workbook also includes dedicated pages for your own garden, where you can record what's flowering, seasonal jobs, ideas for future planting and your own observations throughout the year.

You'll also be encouraged to bring along a 300gsm botanical watercolour sketchbook, which will become your own botanical journal. We'll complete each month's painting in your sketchbook and, between classes, you can gradually fill the remaining pages with quick five-minute studies of flowers, leaves, seed heads and other seasonal treasures from your own garden. Throughout the year I'll also share simple sketchbook ideas to help you build a beautiful record of the changing seasons.

More than anything, I hope this becomes a relaxed monthly gathering where we can enjoy painting, share ideas about our gardens, learn from one another and celebrate the flowers that make each season so special. By the end of the year, you'll have a sketchbook full of paintings, observations and memories to treasure for years to come.
