week 1- "Ink Sweet peas" Monday the 11th of May 

In this ink sweet pea line and wash tutorial we will be using ink pens and little jars of bright liquid ink to create those flowing sweet peas surprisingly easily.

This one is all about relaxing back into painting and not overthinking every little detail.

Perfect for anyone who struggles with getting enough brightness into their work… these sweet peas will absolutely bounce off the paper with colour. We will be using simple expressive lines mixed with loose washes to create something really striking without it feeling complicated.

I’m really excited for everyone to try working with ink. If you enjoy it, of course you can even use it through the background too to create even more depth, movement and vibrancy within the piece.
No tracing needed for this one… just a gentle step-by-step approach where we focus on movement, softness and enjoying the process again.

Week 2-  " Stylised Giraffe" Monday 18th of May

This stylised giraffe watercolour is a surprisingly easy approach to painting wildlife… and really not how you would expect. In this tutorial we will be painting with a little more energy, being slightly rougher with our brushstrokes and much more decisive with our lines.

This giraffe has a contemporary feel to it and is all about movement, confidence and letting the paint do some of the work for you. We won’t be overworking tiny details. Instead we will focus on creating something expressive, striking and full of character.

A lovely tutorial for anyone wanting to loosen up their style and prove to themselves that you really can paint any animal in watercolour with the right approach.
