Beginner’s 4-Week Watercolour Art Journey

Friday Afternoons | 12:30 – 2:15 PM

This Friday afternoon beginners’ block takes place in the studio alongside continuing watercolour artists while they are painting.

Beginners are taught as a dedicated block within the session, with clear, step-by-step guidance through the fundamentals of watercolour. Painting alongside experienced artists allows you to observe the natural rhythm of the class, see techniques in practice, and gain a clear understanding of how the continuing classes work should you wish to continue after the beginners block.

Teaching, structure, and content are exactly the same as in other beginner classes. No previous experience is needed — everything is explained clearly and at a manageable pace.

Dates & Subjects

This 4-week beginners’ journey runs over consecutive Fridays:

• Friday 27th February – Flowers
An introduction to watercolour basics, including brush control, water-to-paint ratio, and simple washes.

• Friday 6th March – Landscapes
Learn to paint skies, clouds, and textured land using beginner-friendly techniques such as dry brush and the fan brush.

• Friday 13th March – Flamingo
A full guided tutorial focusing on colour blending, layering, and creating form.

• Friday 20th March – Hare
Bringing everything together in a final painting that builds confidence and celebrates progress.

What’s Included

All materials are provided during the class, including:
• Watercolour paper
• Paints
• Brushes

You don’t need to bring anything with you — simply arrive and paint.
